ULAN BATOR, NOV 28 – The number of individuals confirmed positive for HIV and AIDS patients in Mongolia has increased to 388, according to a report released by the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCCD) today.
The NCCD estimates that the actual number of individuals living with HIV in the country may reach 667. The data was shared in a statement issued in conjunction with World AIDS Day which is celebrated every year on December 1.
Mongolia, which has a population of 3.5 million, is classified as a country with low HIV prevalence among the general population. However, HIV infections are concentrated among high-risk groups, which emphasizes the need for targeted prevention and intervention efforts, according to the NCCD. – Xinhua
