Sport: It wasn’t until 1.40 that the marathon match in Paris was over. Zverev won with the numbers 4-6, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.

The game on the Philippe-Chatrier main court lasted four hours and eleven minutes. Rune made it to the quarter-finals in both 2022 and 2023, but this year it didn’t work out.

The 21-year-old maintained a high level throughout large parts of the match. The problem was that Zverev did the same, and the German has now won all of his last ten matches.

In the fourth set, Rune had the opportunity to decide the duel in a tiebreak, but there Zverev was too strong. He also had more power in the last set.

Zverev will face Australian Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals. The winner will face either Casper Ruud or reigning champion Novak Djokovic to fight for a ticket to the final.
