Local toy drives and festive events are ramping up to ensure no child is left without a gift this year.
On Saturday, the Oroville Walmart Supercenter at 465 Cal Oak Road is hosting a holiday toy drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature train rides, a car show, free cookies and hot chocolate, a motorcycle drive-thru and a chance to meetSanta.
At the Jesus Center, at 2255 Fair St., a Kelsey’s Kid’s Toy Drive box is taking new clothing and toy donations. The box will be out until Dec. 20.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree programs concludes in less than a week on Dec. 5. Angel Trees are up various locations including the Oroville and Chico Walmarts, Chico Marketplace, Chico High, Payless Hardware, Rockery and Nursery, and Barebones Workwear. The Salvation Army only accepts new, unopened gifts.
The conclusion of the Angle Tree Program coincides with the Salvation Army’s Stuff the Bus event on Dec. 5 from 6 am to 6 pm, with the aim of filling a bus with toy donations. The bus will be parked at Les Schwab Tire Center in Chico at 201 W. East Ave.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Butte County Toy Run is having its 37th annual fundraiser during which motorcyclists will band together to deliver toys in Butte County. The event starts at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds at 2357 Fair St. And from there, riders will end at Calvary Chapel of Paradise located at 14388 Dogtown Road. The event is from 9 am to 3 pm
