Former popstar Holly Valance has made her political leanings very clear as she attended the launch event of Liz Truss’ new Conservative faction.

The 40-year-old began her career on Neighbours aged just 16 as Felicity Scully, better known as Flick, although she left three years later.

After this, she moved into the music industry with a few hits such as Kiss Kiss in the early 00s before returning to acting with Prison Break and Taken.

Valance and her business tycoon husband, Nick Candy, attended the evening in London which featured speeches from MPs and other Tory party members.

Ex-prime minister Truss, former business secretary Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, and MP Lee Anderson all spoke at the ‘Popular Conservatism’ launch, shortened to ‘PopCon’.

Valance was so enamoured with the speeches she even declared she wanted Rees-Mogg for prime minister afterwards.

‘The speakers today were fantastic. I thought Liz was actually really, really interesting to listen to. Jacob for PM!’ she told GB News.

The former Strictly contestant added: ‘Everyone starts off as a leftie and then wakes up at some point after you start either making money, working, trying to run a business, trying to buy a home, and then realise what crap ideas they all are – and then you go to the right.’

During his speech, Anderson criticised climate policies and the Government’s Net Zero emissions strategy saying most people simply didn’t care about it.

Valance agreed with his statements and added: ‘I just think the climate crisis – or lack of – is not a crisis. The air is better than when I was growing up, it used to stink walking down the street when I was growing up.’

Two years ago, the former pop star was booed on her way into the Conservative Party Summer Ball by a line of protestors.

At the time there was a row over the pay for public culture sector workers, with Valance crossing the picket line to rub shoulders with then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Her husband is one half of the Candy property brothers who are estimated to have a net worth of over £1.5 billion while Valance is worth around £16million.

The pair married in 2012, two years into their relationship, and share two children; daughters born in 2013 and 2017.
