Sport: Kristian Thorstvedt and his teammates limped to a 1-0 victory at home, and the second jumbo is thus in contact with the teams on the right side of the relegation battle.

Armand Lauriente scored with a direct shot in the 20th minute. It was enough to give Sassuolo their first win in seven games. It inflicted Inter’s first league defeat since Sassuolo’s victory at the San Siro in September.

– We didn’t have the right entrance to the game. We tried to adjust, but we created too little, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi told Sky.

Lautaro Martínez thought he had equalized just before half-time, but his goal was disallowed for offside. The Argentine tops the goalscoring list in Serie A, but he has been quiet on 23 goals since February.

Thorstvedt was the only one of Sassuolo’s three Norwegians to start on Saturday. He was replaced after just under an hour. Marcus Holmgren Pedersen and Emil Konradsen Ceïde were unused reserves.

Sassuolo have only lost Salernitana behind them in the table, but there are only two points up to three teams who are all on the right side of the line. However, the others in the relegation battle have played one game less.

Three games remain for Sassuolo.
