Sport: The pants comes after the Norwegian finished in 3rd place in the PGA Championship, which was the year’s second major tournament. Hovland fought all the way for the victory, but missed the opportunity on the last hole.

He then recorded his first bogey since Friday’s round. Three strokes separated the winner Xander Schauffele.

Despite the sour finish, the weekend game in Kentucky will remain as a big Hovland uptick. Due to weak form in the lead-up to the event, the 26-year-old considered dropping the PGA Championship.

On the world ranking Hovland is now past both Jon Rahm (Spain) and Ludvig Åberg (Sweden).

The overview is still topped by Scottie Scheffler. The American was arrested before the weekend and charged with violence against a police officer and reckless driving. He was released in time to continue playing in the PGA Championship. There, Scheffler finished in joint 8th place.

The major triumph made Schauffele the new world runner-up. He passed the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy.
