Hunter Biden pardon: Darcy cartoons

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A week and a half ago October 24, on Ohio-based Hugh Hewitt’s conservative radio show, Donald Trump said he was open to granting a pardon to Hunter Biden if reelected. Trump also said he had prevented locking up Hillary Clinton:

“See unlike Joe Biden, despite what they’ve done to me, where they’ve gone after me so viciously, despite that, and Hunter’s a bad boy. There’s no question about it. He’s been a bad boy. All you had to do is see the laptop from hell. But I happen to think it’s very bad for our country.”

“I could have gone after Hillary. I could have gotten Hillary Clinton very easily. And when they say lock her up, whenever they said lock her, you know, they’d start, 30,000 people, lock her up, lock her up,. What did I do? I always say take it easy, just relax. We’re winning. Take it easy. I could have had her put in jail. And I decided I didn’t want to do that. I thought it would look terrible. You had the wife of the president of the United States going to jail. I though it would be very bad if we did that. And I made sure that didn’t happen, okay? I thought it would be bad. What I didn’t know is that they were going to play dirty with me. Who thinks that? Who would have…”

Over Thanksgiving weekend President Joe Biden not surprisingly changed his mind about not granting his son Hunter a pardon on gun and tax convictions. Sunday the President announced Hunter had been given a pardon for the period covering 2014 to 2024. He cited Hunter’s drug addiction recovery, ( back taxes had been paid ) and that his son’s prosecution was politically motivated driven by his last name.

“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s case can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son -and that is wrong.”

“There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they tried to break me – and there’s no reason to belioeve it will stop there. Enough is enough.”

President Biden’s change of heart came after half the nation’s voters proverbially pardoned Donald Trump of sexual assault, 34 felony count convictions on fraud and instigating the Jan. 6 insurrection attack on the U.S. Capitol, resulting in the deaths of 7 people, including 7 inlcuding law enforcement officers.

Hunter Biden’s pardon was also granted after President-elect Trump nominated Kash Patel to lead the FBI with Patel vowing to use it seek vengeance against opponents in politics and the press.

President Biden’s charge that the charges were politicized have ample merit, The gun and tax criminal charges made against Hunter Biden are rarely brought. Trump appointed U.S. Dist. Judge Maryellen Noreica declinded to approve the plea deal Hunter Biden agreed to in which he would serve no prison time.

After the Trump appointed judge ruled against the plea deal, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland named Trump appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss Special Counsel, and Weiss proceeded with the highly rare prosecutions on both the charges.

President Biden’s ‘blanket’ pardon for surving son Hunter was the largest spread since the blanket pardon President Gerald Ford had granted President Richard Nixon, the most corrupt U.S. President before Trump topped him.

Agree with those who say President Biden should have pardoned others along with his son. Possibly preventive pardons for Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team who are now being targeted by Trump for doing their jobs right.

Senator Joe Mancin told CNN reporter Manu Raju, Biden should also pardon President Trump.
