WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Due to winter weather, travel on Interstate 70 is limited in western Kansas and eastern Colorado. On Thursday afternoon, the Kansas Department of Transportation announced that I-70 is closed from Goodland to Denver.
The closure is expected to last through Saturday or longer.
KDOT says it may become necessary to close more sections of I-70 or other Kansas highways to keep drivers from becoming stranded as accommodations and truck parking areas fill up.
The KSN Storm Track 3 Team says there could be some wintry weather in extreme northwest Kansas Thursday night. The forecast also shows a chance for precipitation on Friday and Saturday.
KDOT says the National Weather Service is forecasting an extreme impact of snow in parts of Colorado.
