IEED Exchange strengthens academic & industry relationships

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 5 – In an effort to strengthen cooperation with industry stakeholders, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) took significant steps through the Entrepreneur Development and Industry Engagement Exchange Event (IEED) which took place at the Student Center Building, UBD yesterday.

The event organized by the Assistant Vice Chancellor’s Office (Entrepreneur Development and Industry Engagement) was attended by more than 70 people comprising senior management and senior officers of UBD, industry professionals, academia, researchers, alumni and students.

At the event, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Entrepreneur Development and Industry Engagement, Dr Haji Masairol Haji Masri stated that the event witnessed the launch of 5 resources and innovative entrepreneurship training as well as workshops aimed at equipping students with the skills needed to progress in a dynamic business environment and foster A brilliant idea becomes a successful venture.

He also emphasized the importance of fostering active dialogue with industry partners through academic-industry collaboration to generate collaboration such as training, guidance, exploration of new opportunities and other collaborative efforts.

Also present during the event was the Vice Chancellor of UBD, Dr Hazri bin Haji who also completed the launch of 5 guidebooks which are The Launchpad Guidebook, The Incubation Handbook, The Pre-Venture Lab Guide Book, The Venture Lab Program Book (V4) and The EntreMasterClass Program Book.

The exchange and guidance aimed at students and academia has been designed to foster an entrepreneurial mindset within the university and play an important role in bridging the gap between industrial applications and academic research.

The event was then followed by a networking session to increase industry engagement, increase visibility and promote multidisciplinary collaboration and cooperation with industry.

The session provided the attendees with an overview of the strategic road map for the implementation of the UBD Entrepreneurship Action Plan which aims to address the practical needs of the industry.

The IEED exchange marks the beginning of a series of initiatives aimed at further strengthening the relationship between UBD and its industry partners, ensuring that the university continues to play a role in leading the country’s development.
