Sport: A few hours earlier, Cádiz took three points when Sergi Guardiola outwitted Ørjan Nyland six minutes into extra time in Sevilla. Cádiz was therefore only two points behind Celta in the relegation zone.

Alex Berenguer gave Athletic Bilbao the lead directly from a corner kick midway through the first half in Vigo, and with a home loss, nerves would have been on edge in the last two rounds.

Five minutes into the second half, Strand Larsen nodded in the crossbar well beyond the goalkeeper’s reach. It didn’t look to be Celta’s day, but two goals from the 68th to the 71st minute changed everything.

In the 68th minute, Alvarez took a throw-in on the right. He played a wall and sped up the pitch. His cross reached Williot Swedberg, who was able to tap the ball in. Larsen made a smart run that drew defenders away from the 20-year-old Swede.

One minute later, Larsen was played through in the box and shot from an acute angle, but the goalkeeper saved. Celta had blood in their teeth, and a couple of minutes later, Álvarez carried the ball at high speed towards opposing opponents and shot at goal from 17 metres.

The team celebrated with the fans after the final whistle, and Larsen gave his jersey to delighted supporters. He was replaced immediately after the leading goal.

In another match on Wednesday night, Antoine Griezmann scored a hat-trick as Atlético Madrid beat Getafe 3-0.

The Norwegian was on the field and contributed directly to the equalizing goal, but the big hero was 20-year-old substitute Hugo Alvarez, with an assist on the equalizing and match-winning goal.

Celta now need just one point from their last two games to be sure of saving their place in La Liga.
