David Beckham caused quite a stir during Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor’s welcome party in Mumbai.
The England football ace, 48, attended the bash intended to welcome him to India thrown by Prem Ratan Dhan Payo star Sonam, 38, and her internet personality husband Anand Ahuja, 40.
Among the attendees was actor, dancer and model Malaika Arora, 50, who revealed that Inter Miami owner David was ‘her long-time crush’ posting pictures of the pair together on her Instagram.
She beamed at David while clutching her chest in a photo she posted to her 18.7million followers, while she posed alongside her husband, Ek Villain Returns actor Arjun Kapoor, in another.
Arjun also seemed thrilled with the meeting, describing the football icon as someone he had admired ‘for years from afar.’
He also shared a collection of snaps from the evening on Instagram, captioning the post: ‘A night to remember…
‘To meet someone u have admired from afar for so many years & to be able to talk face to face with him about his new life in Miami, football, India, travel, his kids, philanthropy & everything else I could squeeze into a 15-minute dinner table chat.
‘Grateful to have met & completely in awe of his genuine sincerity towards spending time with all of us & being kind enough to allow every fanboy/girl in that room to feel elated to get a picture & time with him… Thank You & for fulfilling this childhood dream of mine.’
Fellow Bollywood A-lister Karisma Kapoor also wrapped her arms around David for a snap, joking that she ‘Did it for the kids… not really!’ in a similar Instagram post, adding that he was ‘so warm and gracious.’
David is visiting the country as a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
He posted his own montage video from his visit to the country including adorable clips of him playing football with a group of youngsters as well as attending the Cricket World Cup Semi Final.
‘Incredible to finally visit this amazing country… it’s been such a special few days visiting local communities and children’s initiatives with @unicefindia, as well as attending the Cricket World Cup with @sachintendulkar as @unicef global ambassadors 🏏 I can’t wait to come back 💙🧡,’ he wrote.
Unicef and the International Cricket Council (ICC) had joined forces to promote gender inclusion and women’s empowerment through cricket.
David posed for several photos with the stars of the home team, including Virat Kohli, and also posed for an iconic photo with India cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
