Spain’s trade deficit narrowed significantly in September. Imports fell more sharply than exports. The foreign trade deficit fell to 3.83 billion euros in September from 6.98 billion euros in the same month a year ago, Spain’s economy ministry said. In August, the deficit reached 4.43 billion euros.
Exports in September decreased year-on-year by 10.4 percent to 31 billion euros, and imports by up to 16.2 percent to 34.8 billion euros. In a month-on-month comparison, exports increased by 18.5 percent and imports by 13.9 percent. The trade deficit in the third quarter rose to 13.2 billion euros from 9.8 billion euros in the second quarter.
