Russell Brand has been questioned by police over allegations of sexual offences.

The TV personality and comedian was accused by multiple women of sexuaal offences including rape and sexual assault, in allegations uncovered by Channel 4 Dispatches and The Times in September.

Other women came forward with similar allegations in the days and weeks following; it is unclear whether the recent questioning relates to the allegations made in the documentary.

The Metropolitan police have now stated they interviewed a man under police caution in relation to ‘non-recent’ sexual offences, according to The Times.

In a statement to Metro.co.uk, a spokesperson said: ‘A man in his 40s attended a police station in South London on Thursday 16 November 2023.

‘He was interviewed under caution by detectives in relation to three non-recent sexual offences. Enquiries continue.’

The bombshell Channel 4 Dispatches documentary, in a joint exposé by The Times and The Sunday Times, saw the St Trinian’s actor accused of rape, sexual assault, and controlling behaviour by several women at the height of his fame.

Investigations have since been launched by the BBC, Channel 4, and the Metropolitan Police force.

Brand has previously denied all allegations against him, stating that while he was one ‘promiscuous’, any sexual encounters were ‘always consensual’.

It was reported earlier in November that the BBC received two further complaints after launching a review into Brand’s behaviour when he worked at the broadcaster between 2006 and 2008.

The two complaints – made in the last two months – are ‘not of a serious sexual nature’, according to the BBC, and relate to his workplace conduct.
