Mike Flanagan’s latest update regarding the status of the movie The Life of Chuck comes at the perfect time following Tom Hiddleston’s Loki send-off. Hiddleston, who will play the lead character in Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation, will be ready to focus on new types of roles after the end of his Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe show. Stepping into the horror genre with Flanagan is the best direction the actor could take for his career.

The filmmaker is famous for reusing the same actors in his projects, and many Flanagan regulars are returning for The Life of Chuck, but this will be his first collaboration with Hiddleston. The Life of Chuck, which will be based on Stephen King’s novella of the same name from the 2020 collection If It Bleeds, began filming in October 2023 despite the actors’ strike going on at the time. Now, Flanagan has revealed some great news about the upcoming Life of Chuck movie hinting at when the adaptation could be released.

Mike Flanagan recently revealed that filming has wrapped for The Life of Chuck, which means that the Stephen King adaptation is closer than ever. The filmmaker’s update came shortly after Karen Gillan announced she’d finished filming The Life of Chuck. Despite the now-ended SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike going on at the time, Flanagan was granted an interim agreement and was able to commence production on the movie this fall. Filming then wrapped on November 17, 2023. While there has been no official announcement of when the movie will come out, with filming wrapped, a 2024 release date for The Life of Chuck is definitely on the horizon.

The Disney+ MCU series Loki has just concluded its second season.

Tom Hiddleston’s most famous role is Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and season 2 of the character’s eponymous Disney+ series has just concluded. Since Hiddleston has hinted that he might be bidding the character farewell, at least for a while, it’s exciting to know he will star in another big project soon. In The Life of Chuck, Hiddleston will play the main character, Charles “Chuck” Krantz, who grew up in a haunted house. The movie will follow his life in reverse, starting with his death and ending with his childhood.

Tom Hiddleston is no stranger to the horror genre, as he appeared in Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance Crimson Peak in 2015. The new update on Mike Flanagan’s upcoming movie couldn’t come at a better time, especially after Loki season 2’s ending. Although the superhero series is different from The Life of Chuck in terms of plot, both play with time, and Hiddleston will be perfect for the Stephen King adaptation after diving headfirst into Marvel’s multiverse in Loki.
