CLEVELAND, Ohio – The day after the Cleveland Browns traded for controversial quarterback Deshaun Watson, they signed Jacoby Brissett as an insurance policy incase Watson was suspended by the league for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Brissett will now be starting under center to begin the season after NFL disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson handed down her suspension of six games, pending possible appeal.
Watson was accused by 24 massage therapists who filed a civil suit against him for sexual misconduct while he was with the Houston Texans. Watson as since settled with 23 of the 24 accusers. There were no criminal charges against Watson.
