What’s his deal?

Fifteen sacks, two forced fumbles and 6.5 tackles per game is what Carter has brought to the table for Newberry High School down in Florida for his senior season. He’s in the top 15 in the state for sacks on the season, according to MaxPreps.

He plays primarily within the interior of the defensive line and shows flashes of elite off-the-line timing and hands. His senior season Hudl highlights are a showcase of his unique combination of speed and strength that leave opposing Florida high school quarterbacks helpless.

Carter committed on July 18 after a fierce competition for his commitment. The Buckeyes competed most urgently with Florida, Penn State, UCF and Miami, who rounded out Carter’s prior top five announcement.

How he fits in Ohio State’s plans

Carter is one of six defensive line recruits committed to the Buckeyes in the class of 2025. He contributes to a massive, high-upside recruiting class across the DL. The idea of a refurbished defensive line in 2025, due to the anticipation of loss in the position group this offseason, is a softened blow thanks to Carter and the five other recruits joining the Buckeyes.

From a strictly rankings standpoint, Carter slots in the middle of the pack of the six defensive line commits. He’s the shortest of the six, but outweighs four. The unique measurements are a testament to the variety and versatility the Ohio State found within their defensive line recruits in the class of 2025.
