After teasing the record during the summer Kendrick Lamar releases “squabble up” and delivers another epic visual for the track.

Over the weekend Kendrick Lamar unexpectedly released his latest project GNX.  Reportedly the name pays tribute to the Grand National his father drove home from the hospital after he was born. Fans rejoiced on the first listen after Lamar finally released “squabble up” after teasing the track this summer.

While “Not Like Us” was his victory lap in his beef with Drake the video teased “squabble up” leaving fans demanding its release for months.

The surprise album is expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart but “squabble up” is positioned to top the #1 song chart. As we’ve come to anticipate Kendrick and pgLang delivered dozens of easter eggs throughout the video. When Kendrick raps “Don’t hit him, he got kids with him” he pays tribute to the iconic “Caine’s death” sequence in Menace II Society.

Another noticeable easter egg is the recreation of Ice-T’s iconic cover for Power in the visual. Kendrick and pgLang meshed every era of music videos into one. Furthermore, the video serves as proof Los Angeles and Compton have their own regional identity for the non-believers.

Issac Hayes received a shoutout as black Moses appeared in the background of the visual.

The video ends with Kendrick emphasizing the “Compton Christmas Parade” which could be an easter egg or hint. Either way, it’s an exciting time for the city and the Christmas Parade will be epic.
