Kingston has hired 3 paramedics, 5 EMTS for city-run ambulance service, Mayor Steve Noble says – Daily Freeman

KINGSTON, N.Y. — Mayor Steve Noble said Friday, Feb. 9 that the Kingston Fire Department has hired three paramedics and five EMTS to staff the city-run ambulance service days after the city approved transferring nearly $860,000 from the city’s fund balance to pay for the new hires.

Noble said the new paramedics and EMTs will participate in the new hire orientation next week.

On Tuesday, the Common Council unanimously approved transferring nearly $859,595,56 from the city’s fund balance into fire department coffers to hire eight firefighters, including three paramedics and five emergency medical technicians, or EMTs.
