HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Officers responded to Kohl’s Oct. 29 for a report three active shoplifters and located one of them walking away from the store.
While speaking with the Richmond Heights man, 39, he fled on foot as officers located stolen clothing in his possession. A chase pursued as the man ran behind Drug Mart and onto Interstate-271, where he was able to cross all lanes of traffic. His quest for freedom came to end however when he was taken into custody by Mayfield police behind the Holiday Inn on Beta Drive. He was charged with obstructing official business and subsequently turned over to deputies from the Summit County Sherriff’s Office on an active warrant
The others involved had been taken into custody when located in a vehicle at Kohl’s. They were not charged due to the low value of theft.
