Accidents and natural disasters: The fire service moved out on Monday evening from Laksevåg, Øygarden, Fana and Skogsskiftet due to a fire in the terrain at Sotra. In addition, a drone was sent out from the main station in Bergen to get an overview of the area, they said Bergens Tidende.

At 21.41 on Monday, the fire service reported BT that the fire is extinguished.

– Extinguishing is in progress. The fire service has not finished, but there is no danger of spreading, and control has been reported, says operations manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen at the West police district to NTB.

The police wrote early on at X that the fire started in connection with the blasting work carried out in the area.

Lene Sælen Rivenes, project manager for the new Sotra association in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, confirmed this to BT.

– The cause of the fire is the blasting work in connection with the connection, she said.

A nearby fitness center was also evacuated due to the smoke.

– The building is still evacuated, but no other building has been evacuated, says Dahl-Michelsen.

National highway 555 between Straume and Arefjordpollen was closed due to the fire, but is now open again.
