War and conflicts: – Norway supports Ukraine in their fight for freedom and independence. It is Ukraine that has asked Switzerland to organize a summit on peace in Ukraine. The aim of the meeting is to secure broad international support for Ukraine, and to make progress in several of the areas that Ukraine has identified in its peace plan, writes Støre’s state secretary Kristoffer Thoner (Ap) in an SMS to VG.

– Støre therefore participates in the summit and gets involved in how Norway can contribute to support Ukraine in this important work, he adds.

More than 50 countries are expected to participate in the Global Peace Summit, according to Swiss President Viola Amherd.

EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel are coming. So do French President Emmanuel Macron and heads of government Giorgia Meloni from Italy, Justin Trudeau from Canada, Olaf Scholz from Germany. Ulf Kristersson from Sweden also participates.
