ROME, NOV 1 – Lazio recorded a stylish 5-1 away win over Como in Serie A earlier this morning, while Roma gave under-pressure coach Ivan Juric some relief with a 1-0 win over Torino, even though the team received mocking cheers from their own supporters before the match.
Lazio looked confident with Argentina striker Valentin Castellanos scoring twice – one from the penalty spot in the 28th minute, and another through a one-on-one with the Como goalkeeper in the 81st minute.
Spaniards Pedro and Patric also contributed Lazio’s second and third goals, while French under-21 striker Loum Tchaouna came on as a substitute and scored his first goal for the club as the game drew to a close.
Juric faced tension with the players after last weekend’s massive 5-1 defeat to Fiorentina, which saw Roma fans express their displeasure. The former Torino coach joined Roma last September after the sacking of Daniele De Rossi.
Juric’s tactics paid off when Paulo Dybala, playing as a false nine, got past the goalkeeper in the 20th minute to score the only goal of the game from a tight angle.
Earlier in the competition, Fiorentina continued the momentum of their win over Roma last weekend by beating Genoa 1-0, moving them up to fourth place, six points behind league leaders Napoli.
German defender Robin Gosens managed to score late in the second half. While the former goalkeeper of Manchester United, David de Gea, displayed several excellent saves for Fiorentina, and was named the best player of the match. – AFP
