Lights of Life tree shining brightly in downtown Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — An 80-foot tree of lights is now shining over downtown Wichita, supporting an organization that cares for loved ones in their final moments.

Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice flipped the switch on its Lights of Life tree Sunday night at 313 S. Market. Thirty-two hundred bulbs are dedicated to someone who has died, with donations from friends and family.

The donations help Harry Hynes provide hospice support to families, regardless of their ability to pay.

“It’s an incredible night to be with these families who we are all connected in that common bond of grief, but at the same time, we’re here to celebrate the loved ones that brought us together,” Chenay Sloan, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, said.

Trees of Lights benefiting the charity can be found in five Kansas cities: Coffeeville, Oswego, Parsons, Pittsburg, and Wichita.
