Sport: Scheffler won The Memorial by one stroke over Collin Morikawa. It was the American’s fifth win of the season.

After the triumph, which was the very first with his son Bennett in place, a jocular Scheffler had a chat with broadcaster CBS.

– It feels very good. He (Bennett) looks a little sunburned, but that’s okay, said the American as he looked over at his son and wife Meredith.

On May 17, just before the second round of the PGA Championship, the 27-year-old was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer. It happened after he tried to pass a police roadblock, where a man had died after being hit by a bus.

According to the police, he stepped on the gas pedal instead of stopping. This led to a police officer tripping and sustaining injuries to his knees and wrists.

Scheffler called the case a big misunderstanding, and at the end of May all points in the charge against him were dropped. In addition to the charge of violence, he was accused of reckless driving and breaking the traffic rules.

The American is ranked as the world’s best golfer, four places ahead of Norwegian Viktor Hovland.
