Malaysia sent a protest note to the Philippines

KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 14 – Malaysia sent a protest note to the Philippines regarding the country’s two new maritime acts that violated Sabah’s maritime boundaries today, said Deputy Foreign Minister, Datuk Mohamad Alamin.

He said the Philippine Maritime Zones Act and the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on November 8 were confirmed to have gone beyond the New Map of Malaysia 1979 which was made based on international law.

He said there is a reference document to the act that also touches on the country’s claim against Sabah.

“We have already finalized and considered some of the main issues that we will include in our objection note.

“We will send this protest note today to show our commitment that we will continue to defend the sovereign rights of Sabah and our country,” he said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2025 at the committee level for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Dewan Rakyat, today. – Named
