KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 – A man was brought before the Magistrate’s Court here today on charges of murdering his mother whose body was found in a refrigerator on Nov 12.
N. Deanesh, 53, nodded his understanding after the charges against him were read before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim, but no confession was recorded as the case was under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
According to the charges, the man is accused of causing the death of his mother Catherine Daniel, 77, during the incident at a house in Taman OUG, Brickfields here between 21 and 26 March 2021.
The charge is according to Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for hanging to death or imprisonment for 30 to 40 years and a maximum of 12 lashes, if convicted.
No bail was granted and the court then set February 7 next year for the mention of the forensic report, autopsy and chemical report.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
On Nov 12, Bernama reported that a man was arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in a refrigerator at a house in Taman OUG.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said his side received information regarding the discovery of the woman’s body at 8.48am (Nov 12) before the man was arrested. – BERNAMA
