Man injured in eye in fight is now stable

GEORGE TOWN, NOV 18 – The man who was injured in a fight with a foreigner last Saturday, has completed eye surgery and is in a stable condition.

Penang Police Chief, Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the 52-year-old man was receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital, and may suffer permanent disability as a result of the incident.

He said based on preliminary investigations, the man was believed to be drunk during a fight due to a disagreement with a 28-year-old man who is a United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) card holder.

“The suspect does not have any past record.. but the victim has several past criminal cases, and the police are completing the investigation papers for the case, we will charge the foreigner under Section 352 of the Penal Code later,” he said.

He said this when met after the North East District Police Chief Handover Ceremony.

In the incident in Jalan Ara Kuda, Tasek Gelugor, Penang at about 2pm last Saturday, a fight between the two who live as neighbors in a flat not far from the location occurred when the man believed to be drunk was said to have disturbed the suspect.

The foreigner is now remanded until this Wednesday. – Named
