Man who grabbed ex-partner by throat in Kerry given probation act

A man who assaulted his ex-partner during a dispute in her home came before Killarney District Court charged with assault last week.

afal Zajda of 36 Gleann Na Greine, Rathmore was before the court for assaulting his ex-partner at her home at 9 Clounts Court, Rathmore on January 28,2022. 

The court heard in evidence that Mr Zajda was in the home of his ex-partner by consent when a dispute arose between them. 

He caught her by the throat and pushed her against the wall. 

His solicitor Padraig O’Connell said that the parties had drifted apart and Mr Zajda had move out of the house and has since left his job locally and moved to Galway. He said the couple have two sons together. 

The court was told that Mr Zajda, pleaded guilty to the offence and has no previous convictions. He had brought €1,000 in compensation to court for his former partner. 

Judge Waters said that he would give Mr Zajda the benefit of the probation act  but he warned that if comes back before the court this incident will be used in the same way as having a previous offence.
