Sport: Soltvedt opened the scoring from the penalty spot before ten minutes had finished in Hamar. With twenty minutes left to play, at 1-1, the 28-year-old missed when he got another chance from the penalty spot.

Ole Didrik Blomberg nevertheless ensured that all the points went to Bergen when he scored 2-1 a few minutes later.

– Today I thank “Blommen” who saves me from becoming a scapegoat. It’s nice to win. I obviously want to help the team, and a penalty must be in the goal, said Soltvedt to TV 2 after the end of the match.

– I didn’t want to say that, but I feel it is a bit unfortunate to shoot two penalties in the same match. He should understand that much. For my own part, it’s good, especially when it comes right after, said the match winner to the licensee.

However, perhaps the best performance of the match came five minutes into the second half. Gard Simenstad scored a great free-kick goal past a chanceless Mathias Dyngeland, and the set-piece specialist thus copied the magnificent goal from the 1-0 victory against Bodø/Glimt two weeks ago.

Three points means that Brann takes over 1st place in the Eliteserien before Bodø/Glimt host Haugesund on Sunday.

– We take three important points, and we have something to do with the big teams. We must not forget where we have come from. Today we fight well, said Blomberg.

– A real scare from Brann in the opening minute, said TV 2’s commentator Espen Ween.

A few minutes later, Vegard Kongsro rose high on a corner kick, but the header went wide. Shortly after the hosts’ corner, referee Mathias Støfringshaug pointed to the penalty mark, and Soltvedt safely dispatched the attempt from the chalk mark in the goal.

– I feel he falls a little easy. I do not know what to say. It’s a tough match, so it’s a shame that the referee is not on the same page, William Kurtovic told TV 2 during the break.

– Now it’s boiling well in Briskeby. I think Jacob Michelsen probably thinks that HamKam should have taken advantage of this good opening in the match. You don’t get much bigger chances than this, said TV 2’s football expert Yaw Amankwah.

An attacking HamKam team gave Brann plenty of room to counterattack, and after a half-played first half, a three-on-one chance opened up for the visitors. However, an indecisive Ole Didrik Blomberg squandered the chance. Ten minutes before the change of sides, Finne had a great chance from eleven metres, but Brann’s number eleven shot wide. Neither did Svenn Crone hit between the posts when he had a similar chance two minutes later.

Just before the break, Emil Kornvig should have increased Brann’s lead to 2-0, but the Dane hit the crossbar.

HamKam took advantage of that, and shortly after the change of sides equalized at 1-1. With twenty minutes to go, Soltvedt missed the penalty mark, but Blomberg made it 2-1 shortly afterwards. Four minutes before the end, HamKam hit the post, but the hosts got no closer to an equaliser.

Even Blomberg joked with his teammate.

Brann began a particularly hectic opening quarter with a dangerous Soltvedt cross, but Bård Finne never got a foot on the ball.

Just before the end of the quarter, the hosts received a corner kick after a new danger, and from about sixteen meters William Kurtovic thundered the ball into the post.
