War and conflicts: – Nobody needs the Nansen program if Russia wins the war. The situation is precarious, says the party’s spokesperson and parliamentary representative Rasmus Hansson to NTB.

On Tuesday, the Storting will consider the government’s proposal parliamentary notice about the Nansen programme. It happens after Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) announced on Sunday that Norwegian aid to Ukraine will be increased significantly in the near future.

In this connection, the MDG proposes to ask the government to allocate the entire frame of NOK 75 billion in this year’s revised national budget.

– Norway must do everything we can to stop Putin’s advance. Granting the entire Nansen program this year is a start, then we’d better take on the job of filling up the fund afterwards, says Hansson.

He believes that the money in the program must be used now that there is actually a use for it.

– We earned over a thousand billion kroner from the extreme gas prices created by the war in Ukraine, and have so far only decided to give back 75 billion kroner.

Hansson points out that MDG also supports the proposal to increase the total framework for the Nansen program in the coming years. At the end of last year, the party proposed doubling the limit to NOK 150 billion.
