BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 15 – The 14th Joint Working Group Meeting between the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Singapore took place yesterday at the Radisson Hotel.
The meeting was jointly chaired by the Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam, Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin and the Permanent Secretary (Education), Ministry of Education of the Republic of Singapore, Lim Wan Yong.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Dr Chin Wei Keh and senior officials from the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam.
The meeting is an annual event that serves as a platform for the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Singapore to discuss key educational developments, assess ongoing collaborations and explore new areas for future partnerships in education.
This year, both ministries updated information on early childhood care and education as well as placement programs in technical and vocational education and training.
In addition, Brunei also shared about the development of several collaborations in the field of education such as the Absorption Program and School Twins while the Singapore side presented about the ongoing initiatives of the Singapore Ministry of Education.
Future collaborations were also discussed during the meeting including increasing the exchange of teaching staff and students as well as the integration of STEAM in the curriculum as further proposed areas.
The Brunei Ministry of Education also had the opportunity to bring a delegation from the Singapore Ministry of Education to visit the Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi Primary School, Temburong, to take a closer look at the implementation of early childhood care and education and the integration of STEAM.
The group also had the opportunity to learn about cultural activities in the Temburong District.
