Sport: Mikkelsen and map reader Torstein Eriksen had 4.01.0 minutes up to the Frenchman Sebastian Ogier at the top of the results list. The eight-time world champion Ogier ended up on the podium in a WC rally round for the 100th time.

The win in Croatia was his first of the season and 59th overall.

The Toyota driver Ogier was 9.7 seconds down on Britain’s Elfyn Evans after 20 speed tests. Evans is also a Toyota driver.

The Belgian Thierry Neuville in 3rd place had 0.45.8 minutes up to Ogier. Like Mikkelsen, Neuville drives a Hyundai. So did the Estonian Ott Tänak in 4th place.

Mikkelsen had just over two minutes up to 5th place. The Japanese Takamoto Katsua took it with his Toyota.

Eyvind Brynhildsen and map reader Jørn Listerud were number 14 overall and were sixth best in the WRC2 class. He was driven off with 14:45.2 minutes by best man Sebastien Ogier.

The next WC round will be run in Portugal starting on 9 May.
