Miley Cyrus’ wild curls at Grammys compared to Kurt Russell’s hair

Miley Cyrus gave the 80s power hair a resurgence at the Grammys on Sunday with the singer debuting a wild new bouffant that has drawn some interesting comparisons.

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker, 31, stole the show at last night’s star-studded awards ceremony with her electric performance of Flowers that channelled the energy of Tina Turner, and her raunchy acceptance speech where she disclosed she wasn’t wearing any underwear.

But, it was Miley’s hair that was the true highlight of the night as she rocked a very throwback blonde bouffant.

The outfits changed throughout the night, with Miley posing on the red carpet in a custom netted Margiela dress before switching into a wine-coloured sparkling gown, but the big hair barely moved an inch so we can only imagine how much hair spray was used.

Fans were loving Miley’s bold new look and many compared it to Kurt Russell’s famous mane, late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, along with her godmother Dolly Parton and even late music icon Tina Turner.

‘Miley Cyrus big hair is giving me Dynasty – 80s soap opera – vibes,’ @iWriterGirl wrote on X.

@Travis_LFGM quipped: ‘Miley Cyrus looked like ‘The Crown’ version of Margaret Thatcher tonight.’

@CandyGuaraco joked in Spanish: ‘I loved Miley’s hairdresser’s tribute to Kurt Russell.’

@_adrian_sean said: ‘When you realize Miley is trying to channel Tina Turner’s curls and big hair with that damn wig.’

Simply living for the new ‘do, @marciax3nyc weighed in: ‘Miley’s hair tonight was everything. If you don’t get it…I don’t know what to tell you.’

@JortsTheCat commented: ‘I think Miley Cyrus should help us all bring back power hair. We deserve it.’

@dazzle715 added: ‘Okay the sparkly Tina Turner fringe and toned legs are out ruling the Joe Dirt Hair. Werk Miley. Werk.’

Basically, the big bouffant was the moment.

It was an incredible night for Miley, who won the coveted record of the year award for her chart hit Flowers, beating the likes of Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and SZA.

During her speech, the popstar said: ‘This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything, because my life was beautiful yesterday.

‘Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy but Rooney in this world is spectacular, please don’t think that this is important. Even though it is important.’

Before walking off the stage, she cheekily signed off: ‘I don’t think I forgot anyone, but I might have forgotten underwear, bye.’

Aside from the missing underwear, Miley’s speech had everyone talking for other reasons as she failed to mention her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

She thanked ‘everyone that’s standing on this stage right now Tom, Tyler, Michael and Greg. Our teams, my team, Crush, Columbia, my mommy, my sister, my love, my main gays because look how good I look.’

She then asked the team behind her: ‘Anyone else? Your wife, your fiancée, all the people that we love. Thank you all so much.’

It’s possible she simply forgot to mention Billy Ray’s name but the two are believed to have an estranged relationship following his separation from her mother Tish in 2022.
