Sport: Several Swedish media mention Tuesday, among them Aftonbladet and The Expressthe demanding financial situation in the capital club.

AIK itself confirms that the club must sell players in order to achieve the financial goals it is managing.

“AIK Football has set new financial targets as of 31 March 2023. As of 31 March 2024, the targets for equity and debt were met, while the income and growth targets were not reached. Fulfillment of the liquidity target requires AIK Fotball to carry out betting sales during the upcoming transfer windows,” says a statement.

In addition to Henning Berg being a coach, Thomas Berntsen is sports manager at AIK.

The financial report for the first quarter of 2024 shows that the capital club lost SEK 10.8 million.

The financial year 2023 ended with a loss of NOK 21 million, according to Aftonbladet. The operating result was minus NOK 77 million.

The reason for the weak financial figures must be weaker sporting results than expected, as well as a need to make changes in the playing squad.
