Crime and justice: The boy should have been found at 1pm on Saturday afternoon, the police’s task leader Thor Martin Balto informs the newspaper.

The next of kin have been notified of the discovery.

The eleven-year-old boy was reported missing from Stabbursdalen camp school in Porsanger on Thursday. It was fellow pupils who saw the boy go out into Stabburselva to fetch a football – before he suddenly disappeared.

An extensive search has been carried out for the boy, and on Friday morning the police announced that they had switched to a search for a presumed dead person. The police and search teams restarted the search on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock.

Three school classes from Alta attended the camp school when the incident occurred. The municipality set up crisis management after the boy was reported missing.

– We are deeply affected by what has happened. When children and young people are affected, it makes an extra strong impression. I am thinking especially of the family and friends of the boy who is missing, said Alta Mayor Monica Nielsen (Ap). VG Friday.
