Economy and business: That shows the summer gallup from NHO Reiseliv. 46 per cent of the respondents answered that they are planning a holiday trip to a European country other than Scandinavia. This is an increase of 8 percentage points from last year.

The spring has been characterized by many news reports about the weak Norwegian krone, which means that Norwegians get significantly less for their money on holidays abroad. That doesn’t seem to stop the wanderlust.

The figures indicate that most people who are going on holiday abroad also plan to holiday in Norway.

– It may seem that more people are combining a holiday abroad and a Norwegian holiday rather than opting out of the Norwegian holiday, says managing director Kristin Krohn Devold at NHO Reiseliv.

Norwegian holidays are still popular with many. 63 percent answer that they want to spend all or part of their summer holiday in Norway.

– Due to the weak krone, we also expect more foreign tourists to make the trip to Norway this year. In other words, it is likely to be a good summer for Norwegian tourism, says Krohn Devold.

Vestlandet and Agder are desired holiday destinations for many Norwegians. One in five in the selection plans a summer holiday to one of these counties. Northern Norway is the area most people would travel to if they could choose completely freely. Almost one in three answers that they would prefer to travel to one of the three northernmost counties.

The Summer Gallup is an annual survey that maps Norwegians’ travel plans for the summer holidays. The survey was carried out by Kantar for NHO Reiseliv. 1033 respondents have answered.
