Weather: Heavy rain on Friday led to flooding in the country, particularly the northern Baghlan province. There, floodwaters and mud flowed through village streets and over fields, causing extensive damage.

In Baghlan alone, the death toll is at least 311. Thousands of houses have been damaged, many completely destroyed, according to WFP. Local authorities state a somewhat lower death toll, but say it could rise.

In addition to Baghlan, the provinces of Takhar and Badakhshan are also affected, as well as the provinces of Ghor and Herat in the west.
