Sport: Not since the opening round against KFUM Oslo has HamKam had a league score to show for it. The drought has lasted for a total of 438 minutes.

The Hamar club stands with one poor point after losing all its last four games with 0-1.

– We struggle to create big chances, and it lags a bit when we are within 20 metres. We have to find this out very soon, because we can’t end up too far behind, said HamKam striker Pål Alexander Kirkevold to TV 2 after the defeat.

He himself has gone 16 games without scoring in the Eliteserien. Kirkevold’s last goal came when he scored twice against Aalesund in August last year.

On Sunday, Godset got all the points from Briskeby for the first time in 48 years. Jesper Taaje’s header came just before the break when he broke free and headed in Herman Stengel’s precise corner kick.

The score was the defender’s first in 2024.

– Nice that it finally sat, Taaje told TV 2 during the break.

– It is too weak of us. We get into good situations, but make too bad choices and have had too poor shot quality, said HamKam captain Fredrik Sjølstad after the first 45 minutes.

The match was Sjølstad’s first since he had ankle surgery in February.

Four minutes after the change of sides, Lars Vilsvik thought he had doubled Godset’s lead, but VAR canceled the counterattack goal for offside.

On the brink, substitute Oliver Kjærgaard came close to saving 1-1. The finish was beaten away by a Per Kristian Bråtveit in full stretch.

Strømsgodset has won three straight and collected nine points so far in the season.

– We have got a good point capture. Today we were clearly the best, but it’s a shame we couldn’t decide it at the end. We fought it in, said Gustav Valsvik.

Next Wednesday, both HamKam and Strømsgodset will play the 2nd round in the cup. It happens against Elverum and Jerv respectively. Four days later, league football rolls on.

Then HamKam will face Lillestrøm away, while Godset will take on Kristiansund.

The first half was evenly played, but the HamKam attack was too imprecise.

HamKam coach Jakob Michelsen made a triple substitution when just under half an hour remained. Church violence was among those who were taken off after a tame performance.
