New part of the Luther Trail opened

New part of the Luther Trail opened

The Luther Trail now runs uninterrupted between Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. Near Bad Schmiedeberg in the Düben Heath, the trails in both federal states have been united by the opening of a new section. According to the Evangelical Church of Anhalt, the new section is around 80 kilometers long and runs from Kemberg to Herzberg in Brandenburg.

The Luther Trail is a joint project of churches, tourism associations, municipalities and other organizations. It runs for over 2,000 kilometers through Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Along the way there are places that are associated with the reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546) and the Reformation.

In addition to students from the Evangelical School Center in Bad Düben and the President of the German Luther Trail Society, Ekkehard Steinhäuser, Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff also came to the opening of the new section of the trail.
