No illegal wrongdoing found with Calvary Chapel election activities – Chico Enterprise-Record

RED BLUFF – The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office announced it on Friday afternoon, and the Elections Department found Calvary Chapel did not violate California election law.

Both departments were recently informed of concerns regarding the ballot collection process at Calvary Chapel. According to the DA’s Office, the SF Gate news outlet published a story that raised concerns about the ballot collection process at Calvary Chapel. That news article was brought to the attention of both the District Attorney’s Office and the Elections Department.

Specifically, the SF Gate article raised concerns about Calvary Chapel’s methodologies for collecting ballots.

Both departments reviewed the concerns raised by the SF Gate news article. Based on the information obtained and reviewed by both departments, the DA’s Office said Calvary Chapel did not violate California election law.

Clerk-Recorder Sean Houghtby and District Attorney Matt Rogers have previously stated, “Fair elections are the backbone of our country and must be vigorously protected. Any suspected voter fraud will be actively and aggressively pursued.”

They continued by saying, “We believe it is important for the public to know that this issue was thoroughly reviewed by both of our departments. Based on the information reviewed, we found no violation of California election law by Calvary Chapel.”
