Northeast Lakes All-District football 2024: Mentor’s Scotty Fox, Avon’s Nolan Good among players of the year

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After leading their teams to undefeated regular seasons, Mentor’s Scotty Fox and Avon’s Nolan Good are among players of the year for the Northeast Lakes District.

The Ohio Prep Sports Media Association announced its selections Thursday for the all-district team, which selected the best players at their positions in all seven divisions for schools in counties in the upper portion of Northeast Ohio.

Fox is the Northeast Lakes District Offensive Player of the Year in Division I after leading Mentor to a 10-0 record and Greater Cleveland Conference championship. He threw for 2,170 yards with 28 touchdowns to six interceptions, completing 64.6 percent of his passes. While he is a fourth-year starter for Mentor, third-year starting linebacker Nate Gregory of defending state champion St. Edward is the Division I Defensive Player of the Year. Gregory led the Eagles (5-5) with 172 tackles, including 61 solo hits, four tackles for loss and three sacks.

Good pushed Avon’s 10-0 record in Division II, winning a ninth straight Southwestern Conference championship. He is the Division II Offensive Player of the Year, throwing for 2,375 yards and 23 TDs to six interceptions with another 353 yards rushing and five TDs. Solon’s Braeden Springer is the Defensive Player of the Year in Division II with nine interceptions, sparking the Comets to a late push into the playoffs.
