Policy: There is still a shortage of Norwegian eggs. Recently, Nortura stepped out and announced that they will pay more for the eggs of their producers. Now the competitor Den Stolte Hane, which is Coop’s egg supplier, warns that they are following suit, writes the Nation.

– We also want it to be attractive to do business with eggs, and have decided to increase the price to the producer. Profitability will continue to be challenging for the producers, and with today’s earnings it will be difficult to finance new buildings, writes Den Stolte Hane’s communications manager, Thea Kjendlie, in an email to the Nation.

How much more the company wants to pay the egg farmers for the eggs, they do not want to say.

From today 14 May, there is zero duty on eggs. The aim is for imported eggs to ensure enough eggs on shop shelves and for the food industry.
