Sport: Sweden’s Pauline Hammarlund sent Fiorentina into the lead after eleven minutes, but Roma quickly hit back when Valentina Giacinti sent the ball into the goal.

After the break, another Swede was to score for Fiorentina. Madelen Janogy was last on the ball and made it 2-1. That result lasted for half an hour, before Janogy himself added to make it 3-1 for the club from Florence. After that, it seemed for a long time that the cup final would go Fiorentina’s way.

Roma struggled to get back into the game, but with less than a quarter of an hour left in the game, Moeka Minami reduced the score to 3-2. In the 90th minute, Évelyne Viens equalized for Roma, so that it was 3-3 at the end of regular time.

After two goalless extra periods, Friday had become Saturday and a penalty shoot-out was finally needed to decide the golden match.

Two of Fiorentina’s players failed to find the net, and thus it ended in victory for Roma, despite Sønstevold burning his penalty.

Sønstevold came off the bench after an hour of play and was on the pitch for the rest of the match. Haavi played from the start, but was replaced at the end of the first extra period.

Roma claimed their first cup title in 2021/22 and have won two straight league titles. Since its inception in 2018, the capital team has quickly taken great strides and become the country’s leading women’s team.

Roma got past Milan in the semi-finals, while Fiorentina beat Juventus.
