November features Wild Lights, acrobatics, and soccer in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — With the election over, you have three weeks to fit in some fun activities before Thanksgiving.

Jemelle Holopirek, public relations director for Visit Wichita, says you have many options. She highlighted three during a visit to KSN News at Noon on Wednesday.

Sedgwick County Zoo Wild Lights

The zoo’s Asian lantern festival is back for its third year. This year’s show features all-new light sculptures and creations of familiar and mythical plants, animals and other creatures.

“You got to check this out,” Holopirek said. “This is so beautiful. I think it’s fun just to go with your, you know, hot cocoa or, you know, just bundle up with your family, but you can go see these beautiful lights. Fantastic!”

Wild Lights is at the zoo every Wednesday through Sunday from now until Dec. 22. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Click here to learn more and to buy tickets.

NJCAA Division Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championship

Many great soccer players and fans will be coming to Wichita soon. The 2024 NJCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships will be held at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita from Nov. 17-23.

“These are the best junior college teams in the country, and they’re going to be right here in Wichita,” Holopirek said. “We’re happy to get these teams, share our city with them … They stay at our hotels, shop at our businesses, eat at our restaurants, which is fantastic because we love having them here.”

Cirque Dreams Holidaze

You have two chances to see Cirque Dreams Holidaze, a Broadway-style production featuring contemporary circus acts. The original musical score features twists on holiday classics.

“You will see all kinds of storybook characters doing these fabulous tricks,” Holopirek said. “I got to call them performers, but they are athletes as well. They are so good!”

The two performances in Wichita are on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Century II Concert Hall.
