COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day provided injury updates on a pair of players Wednesday as the Buckeyes prepare to face Purdue.
Defensive tackle Tyleik Williams looks as though he’ll be available after injuring his ankle late in Saturday’s win at Penn State.
Tight end Will Kacmarek is still, “a couple weeks away.” He hasn’t play since suffering an injury during an Oct. 12 loss at Oregon.
“He’s doing great,” Day said. “He’s healing quickly.”
Williams has stared six of OSU’s eight games this season. He was sidelined due to an undisclosed injury against Marshall and Michigan State.
After his injury at Penn State, Kayden McDonald stepped in to help deliver a key goal-line stand in the fourth quarter. Day said Williams was, “fine” postgame.
Williams has 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks this year.
Kacmarek has caught five passes for 58 years this season. He played only three snaps against Oregon, according to Pro Football Focus.
Prior to that contest, he averaged 22.8 snaps per game.
Three tight ends play for the Buckeyes against the Nittany Lions. Starter Gee Scott played a majority of the snaps (54).
Bennett Christian played 25 snaps while Jelani Thurman played five.
