WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The season of giving has officially kicked off in Wichita. Operation Holiday 2024 is taking applications from now until Nov. 30, and donations can also start now.
HumanKind Ministries says Operation Holiday is the region’s largest holiday assistance program. Last year, it helped over 15,000 people, including 9,000 children. The need could be greater this year.
The program helps low-income people by providing basic needs, including food, blankets, children’s coats, pet food and more.
Anyone in Sedgwick County who meets the eligibility criteria can apply. Click here to see the requirements and to apply. You can also call 316-777-6097 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or go to one of the application locations.
Distribution to those who successfully applied will happen from Dec. 13 through Dec. 16 in the parking lot of the former Love Box Factory, 3600 N. Santa Fe. Applicants choose a pick-up time slot when they apply.
HumanKind needs lots of donations, especially financial, to make Operation Holiday a success. These include new or gently used coats, blankets, or any items on the Operation Holiday Amazon.com wish list.
