Ops Kabat detained six foreigners

BELAIT, 30 OCT – In an effort to crack down on immigration offenders in Brunei Darussalam, six foreigners were arrested in two Operation Kabat conducted by the Law Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait Branch, Department of Immigration and National Registration (JIPK), recently -recently.

According to JIPK’s statement, Operation Kabat 119/2024 which was carried out targeted two places where foreign workers stayed in Mukim Liang and Mukim Belait, where nine foreigners were checked and three of them were arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

As a result of the inspection, the three foreigners failed to submit any complete documents and are believed to have committed an offense under Chapter 15(1), Immigration Act, Chapter 17, i.e. overstaying in the country after their immigration passes were cancelled.

Meanwhile, Operation Kabat 121/2024 was carried out by JIPK targeting a construction project area in Mukim Seria, where three foreigners were checked and then arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

As a result of the inspection, one of the foreign nationals in question is believed to have committed an offense under Chapter 15(1), Immigration Act, Chapter 17.

Meanwhile, another person is believed to have committed an offense under Regulation 15(2), Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17, which is not working with the original employer.

Meanwhile, one of the foreign nationals is also believed to have committed an offense under Regulation 35(1), Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17, which is conspiring to hire the foreign national to work without the knowledge of the original employer.
