KINGSTON, N.Y. — Our Lady of Lourdes snapped Kingston High’s seven-game
winning streak with a 63-46 non-league girls basketball victory Wednesday at the Kate Walton Field House.
The Tigers (13-3 overall) shot just 4-for-32 from 3-point range. They didn’t connect on their first 3-pointer until the fourth quarter.
Our Lady of Lourdes (14-1) led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter and 31-17 at the half.
The visiting Warriors extended their lead to 26 points in the second half until a late Kingston rally cut the deficit to 12 points with 3:00 remaining.
“It was a tough offensive night for us,” Kingston coach Steve Garner said. “With the exception of five minutes late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter, we weren’t hitting any shots.”
Our Lady of Lourdes star Simone Pelish scored a game-high 31 points.
Asia Lebon led the Tigers with 12 points and Jasanii Francis-Torres had 11. Ava Scaturro and Diamond Banks each added nine points for Kingston.
“I think moving forward this was a game that we can benefit from,” Garner said. “We definitely worked hard tonight, but we had key defensive lapses and poor shooting.”
Kingston will host undefeated (14-0) Pine Bush at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
