Oxfordshire police have busy shift and arrest multiple drivers

Thames Valley Police had a very busy shift last night and arrested multiple drivers for drink and drug driving.

Sharing details of the arrests across the county, the force recounted the arrests and the various illicit substances detected in the motorists systems.

In Oxford, a vehicle was stopped by officers as it had a defective headlight.

The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

At the station the offender blew 69 – nearly double the legal limit – on the evidential machine and were charged.

They will appear in court in due course.

The legal alcohol limit in England, Wales and Northern Ireland for driving is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood or 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

During the same shift, a vehicle was seen driving erratically on the A34 and was stopped by officers in Abingdon.

The driver provided a positive drugs wipe for cocaine and was arrested.

A blood sample was obtained at the police station and was sent for analysis.

The driver has been released pending results.

Finally, a vehicle activated a car ANPR for having expired road tax and stopped in Oxford.
