Two people were killed when their cars collided head-on Saturday in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, according to reports from TribLive and WPXI.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. along Route 981 between Flowers and Slag roads, according to officials.
Joseph M. Gshinsky, 35, of North Fayette Township, Allegheny County, was driving north in a Jeep Cherokee when it crossed lanes and struck a Honda CR-V driven by Sherry L. Shaffer, 61, of Derry Township, TribLive said.
Both Gshinsky and Shaffer were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report from Westmoreland County Coroner Timothy Carson.
Carson said that speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to TribLive. State police are investigating the accident.
